Nail Guns For Trim Work & Top Nailing
There are two types of pneumatic nail guns many professionals carry. That old fashioned manual top nailer has all but been replaced in recent years with air driven tools. Instead, pneumatic nailers are used, making the job go quicker without the brute force it took to whack the older top nailer. Considering there are dozens of selections on the market I've chosen only Stanley Bostich, Porter Cable and Senco pneumatic tools shown below.
>Top and Side Nailers
Primary Usage - Used for surface and side nailing of hardwood where a regular flooring cleat or stapler cannot be used. Typically in tight areas the latter cannot reach.
These tools are also used for the starting rows of nail or staple down installations. In no way are trim guns used for installing the entire floor.
Tool Tip: Shown on the right the installer uses blue painters tape on the top of the nail gun. This prevents any marring marks that can be left behind on the drywall.
