Reasons For No Floating Installations

Having been in this business long enough to know what creates floating floor problems is why Uptown Floors will not warrant this type of application.

Issues are typically not allowing enough expansion space. Sure our engineered hardwoods are very stable. However, as with any hardwood floor glued completely together plank by plank, it basically creates a huge ‘sheet.’ It will expand under the right conditions. Conditions some aren’t aware of such as maintaining a stable interior relative humidity level before, during and after the installation.

The larger the square footage or layout, the more expansion space is needed. With that in mind, ugly transitions or room break thresholds are needed. This does not represent the more attractive preference for a floor that flows throughout without transitions.
