Naturally Aged Flooring
Compared to many other Chinese sourced hardwood, Naturally Aged can almost be considered a senior citizen. Unlike others that seem to come out of the woodwork each month, the company over the years has offered some good product lines that started out in the early part of the century.
I’ve seen first hand of the quality on some jobs in the Naples, Florida area. No red flags or struggle to install. Ease of installation is a great indicator of product quality. In other words, does the installer have to beat it together to make it look good? Or toss aside ugly or very short pieces to stick in closets? This is not to say all of their lines are just as good, as the company sources from several Chinese manufacturers and not one.
Which Engineered Floor Works Best For Me?
Their popular Medallion Collection is a bit puzzling and lends a hint to different sources as the construction is not consistent across all color selections. One may be multiple ply core construction while another very different. Overall thicknesses also vary. Is this a concern? The company does have a longer American presence than others. I’ll leave that for you to consider and investigate further if need be.
Since Naturally Aged came into being, other imported sources have become innovative with thicker wear layers, but most don't reach the Medallion lengths you may notice. Medallion tops off at 84 inches compared to what seems to be the norm with others at 74” Does it make a difference? Only if the others have shorter lengths in their mix. But even that’s difficult to assess until you actually see it being installed or watch a video series that we offer on our own products.
At least Naturally Aged doesn’t conceal or hide their product construction; namely the plies in their engineered flooring. I haven’t pinned it down yet, but some of these imports paint the sides of their samples black. I could be way off base. I do not know. I keep forgetting to ask these others why they do it. Maybe it’s a design statement? Folks, don’t take my suspicions for anything. As you’ll notice with many of my reviews I try to stay as unbiased as possible, leaving it up to you to make the decision that you’ll feel best with.
